Visit the Churchyard

Schools, groups and individuals from across our town have been making decorations for the trees in our churchyard to celebrate Christmas as a town. Each tree will have a different theme made by a different group and will be illuminated with lights in the evening. We hope you will enjoy coming to visit.

Christmas Activites

On 12th and 13th December, we will be running a Christmas Activity Weekend inside and outside St Mary’s Lutterworth. There will be games outside suitable for all ages all themed around the Christmas story and a chance to explore the message Christmas message.

Bookings are not essential, but it would be helpful if you could so that we can space people out over the weekend.

Bitteswell Village Carol Service

This year we are going to be holding the village carol service outside in the Churchyard. We are not asking people to book in advance, but would ask everyone to observe all precautions and follow all safety instructions.

We’re asking everyone to dress up in something festive – as well as wearing lots of layers to keep you warm. It would be even better if everyone dressed up in costumes from the nativity story, but sadly we are not able to do our usual tableau this year.

  • 6pm on Sunday 13th December (Postponed due to weather)
  • 6pm on Monday 21st December (Bookings advised, but we’ll hope to include everyone.)

Outdoor Carol Service

This year we are holding several outdoor services in St Mary’s Churchyard. Carols old and new from a live band, linked by readings and thought-provoking videos. Each service will be the same so that everyone can take part. We are also planning to make a video of the service for those stuck at home.

We will be closing the churchyard for safety reasons and so booking is essential.

Service to Remember

This is a quiet service where we can remember loved ones who are no longer with us. Please book a ticket if you would like to attend this service in-person:

If you would like the name of a loved one to be read out during the service, please let the office know by email (office@lutterworthchurch.org) or telephone (01455 558797).

Christmas Eve

Crib Service

“Christmas starts with the Crib Service!” Everyone – toddlers, teenagers and the young at heart – is invited to become angels, shepherds and wise men and help tell the story of Jesus’ birth.

At 1.30pm and 3pm we will be holding our usual Crib Service in a slightly different form. Usually the church is packed full for this event, so this year booking is essential.

Cotesbach Village Carol Service

We are going ahead with our village carol service this year.

As the church is quite small, booking is essential to allow for social distancing. We would hate to turn anyone away.

Late Night Carols and Communion

Often called ‘Midnight Mass’ this wonderful tradition will be going ahead at 11pm in the Churchyard.

Celebrate the night in Bethlehem when Jesus was born, as we join together to sing Carols and worship the new born King. At this traditional communion service we share in the bread and the wine to remember the salvation that Jesus offers to all.

We will be closing the churchyard for safety reasons and so booking is essential.
