Advent Stars

Throughout December

This year we are planning an advent star trail around the town. We want to encourage you to get crafty and create a stain glass window style star to go in your window. You can find out more information, see an example star being created and submit your star on our website: www.lutterworthchurch.org/followthestar

Decorating the Churchyard

November/Early December

School Assembly Video

November

Recording a skit and a short Christmas talk, we’ll be sending a video into our local schools and care homes to summarise the gospel in an entertaining way. Please be praying for our partnerships with those schools and care homes, giving us opportunities to follow up with those exploring faith.

Carol Singing

Throughout December

We’ll be taking carols out of the church and onto the streets as we visit Lutterworth and the villages with music by Steve ‘SaxMan’ Ray, a gospel talk and some testimonies.

Please be praying that we would not only bring the spirit of Christmas but also the living gospel to the doorsteps of many. This will be dependent on COVID regulations, so please pray for wisdom as we prepare.

If you would consider having your testimony recorded for a series of videos that we’re making, please get in touch with Ben Horrex (ben.horrex@lutterworthchurch.org). Your story doesn’t need to be full of blockbuster moments! We’re looking for a broad range of stories that show what it looks like to trust in Jesus.

Christmas Activity Weekend

On 12th and 13th December we hope to run a Christmas Activity Weekend inside and outside St Mary’s Lutterworth and we would love your help to make it happen.

At a time when many of the Lutterworth Christmas events have been cancelled, we want to get as many as we can from our local community, both young and old, having fun in a way that is COVID safe, bringing a smiles and laughter and remembering the story at the heart of Christmas.

We will be running a weekend of activities for all ages themed around the Christmas story. Outside in the churchyard there will be an extravaganza of games and stalls hosted by characters from the nativity story.

There will also be a trail to follow round the churchyard that leads into the church. There different activities around the church will give people the chance to discover the Christmas message and the hope it brings. We want to use a mixture of videos, props, actors, nativity sets and craft to tell the Christmas story in a way that helps both young and old explore what this Good News means for us today.

Whoever you are there is a role for you. Could you help welcome guests and serve refreshments? Could you run a game dressed as a shepherd or play the villain as King Herod? Or could you be involved in helping people explore the Christmas message with activities in the church? Or perhaps you could help make things ahead of time?

We are also looking for things to make the games and activities, so please let us know if you could contribute any of the following: a football goal; spare pieces of plastic drain pipe; buckets; plastic bean bags; super-soaker style water guns; sponge balls; light footballs.

If you think you might be up for having a go at any of the above please contact Tom (tom.brown@lutterworthchurch.org) and Rhiannon (rhiannon.kerton@lutterworthchurch.org). This weekend will be dependent on COVID regulations, so please pray for wisdom as we prepare.

Our Carol Services

Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th December [We are hoping that these dates will still go ahead.]

This year we are holding several outdoor services in St Mary’s churchyard. There will be a limited amount of tickets available for each concert so booking is essential. The concert will be repeated so no one has to miss out. Booking details will be available soon. This will be dependent on COVID regulations, so please pray for wisdom as we prepare.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is in everyone’s diary. Last year we welcomed about 1000 people across all our services on this very special day. This year, we don’t quite know what’s going to happen, but we’re making plans to enable this Christmas to be just as wonderful as ever.

Crib Service – at 1.30pm and 3pm.
Midnight Mass – starting at 11pm

Christmas Day

We be holding our celebration at 10.30am, which we plan to be both in-person and online.
