24 Bible Readings for a Prayer Room

As we pray as a church, seeking God passionately, we feed on his word. These readings are to guide our thoughts and reflections – the reference gives the wider passage to consider if desired.

  1. Jesus said: Come to me, you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28-30
  2. God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father!” Galatians 4:1-7
  3. Let us love, since God loved us first. Anyone who does not love the brother or sister they see, cannot love God whom they do not see. 1 John 4:12-21

  16. The first of Jesus’ signs was at Cana in Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. John 2:1-12
  17. Jesus prayed to his Father for his disciples, saying: Keep those you have given me true to your name, so that they may be one as we are one. John 17:1-11
  18. Jesus said: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength. Love your neighbour as yourself. These are the two greatest commandments. Mark 12:28-34
  19. Paul writes: The Spirit seeks life and peace. Romans 8:5-11
  20. The law of the Lord is perfect, giving new life to the soul; his commands are right, giving joy to the heart. Psalms 19
  21. Paul writes, “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16
  22. Jesus said: There are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there will be only one flock and one shepherd. John 10:11-18
